Report of IEEE Education Week 2022
IEEE ULAB Student Branch organized IEEE Education Week 2022 Move up the Career Ladder – a Panel Discussion about Higher Education Abroad on April 8, 2022 at 10:00 BST (UTC +6). The event was open for all IEEE members from every university. The event went on until 11:57 BST (UTC+6).
It was a panel discussion about pursuing higher studies abroad and the event was held online via Google Meet. A number of graduate students who are currently pursuing their higher studies abroad were there as speakers. The head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr. Abul Kalam Al Azad, PhD. was invited as a guest to speak some kind words to the participants. Kaniz Fatema Antora & Raomi Rouf were the moderators of the event.
The registration of this event started on 7 April 2022 and went on till 7:00 p.m. local time, 8 April 2022. 41 students from different universities registered for this event.
Speakers Information:
Speaker 1: Abrar Hasin Kamal
He is pursuing his Master’s in data science at Universität Potsdam, Germany. He completed his graduation in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh in 2018. He is one of the Former Chairpersons (2017-18) of the IEEE ULAB Student Branch.
Speaker 2: Raisa Tahseen Hasanat
She is pursuing her MSc. in Electrical Power and Energy System at Teesside University, UK. She completed her graduation in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh in 2020. She is one of the Former Chairpersons (2019-20) of the IEEE ULAB Student Branch Women in Engineering Affinity Group.
Speaker 3: Reshma Islam
She is pursuing her MSc. in Applied Electronics at Lodz University of Technology, Poland. She completed her graduation in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh in 2016. She is one of the IEEE Graduate Student Members of the IEEE ULAB Student Branch.
Speaker 4: Ramisha Rabeya
She started serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at University Tenaga Nasional – UNITEN in 2020. She completed her MSc. in Mechanics and Materials at University Tenaga Nasional – UNITEN, Malaysia in 2020. Besides that, she completed her graduation in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh in 2018. She is the Education Affairs Secretary of ULAB EEE and ETE Alumni Association.
Speaker 5: Amrita Ganguly
She is a Ph.D. Student and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Information Technology Department at George Mason University, USA. She completed her graduation in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh in 2020. She is one of the Former IEEE Student members of the IEEE ULAB Student Branch
Moderators Information:
Moderator 1: KanizFatema Antora
She is a fourth year Computer Science & Engineering student at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh. She is the Chairperson (2022-23) of IEEE ULAB Student Branch and the Activity – Vice Chief of IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter Team SPARK.
Moderator 2: Raomi Rouf
Raomi Rouf is a second year Computer Science & Engineering student at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh. She is the Webmaster(graphics) at IEEE ULAB Student Branch.
At the beginning of the event, the moderator welcomed all of the participants. After that, the honorable guest addressed the participants and said some kind words to them. After that, the moderator gave the stage to the speakers. They gave their speech. After that, some selected questions were asked to the speakers on my one, such as why a student should consider studying abroad, What are the factors should be considered when choosing a country, university, or course. What type of challenges do they face while studying abroad and many more.
The speakers took their time and answered the questions in detail. The moderators tried their best to cover all the aspects of higher education abroad. The event was live-streamed on Facebook. More than 350 people tuned in to watch the discussion. There were some questions from the participants which were collected during the registration process.
The event was very informative and everyone who participated appreciated the initiative. They think that this panel discussion cleared a lot of their queries about higher studies abroad.
