The Art of Clean Code – IEEE ULAB Student Branch

IEEE ULAB Student Branch

The Art of Clean Code

The Art of Clean Code, an Online Technical event, organized by the IEEE ULAB Student Branch on 17th June 2020 at 11:00 am has illustrated the importance and the concept of the proper process of code writing in the development phase with 50 participants where the speaker was Dr. Nafees Mansoor, a Senior Member of IEEE and the adviser of IEEE ULAB Student Branch.

Dr. Nafees Mansoor is a researcher and recipient of the Best Research Proposal Award at JACTIM Research Proposal Contest, 2012 (Malaysia), the best paper awards at ICAICT 2016 (Bangladesh), RISP-NCCP 2015 (Malaysia), AUN/SEED-Net ICEEE 2014 (Malaysia), and MJJIS 2013 (Japan) who serves as an Assistant Professor in the CSE Dept. at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) since 2016. Besides that, he is an associate editor of IEEE Access®, an award-winning, multidisciplinary journal. His research interests mostly cover Cognitive Radio Networks, Wireless Communications, and Network Protocols & Standards. He finished his Ph.D. from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He received his BSc degree in Computer Science (Cum Laude honored) and an MSc degree in Telecommunication Engineering from Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB).

In the technical session, Dr. Nafees Mansoor described why variables, functions, classes of a program should be written elaborately; why comments are needed; where comments add more values; why to avoid unnecessary loops, why complexity should keep a matter of concern; why less execution time produces more productivity; how the algorithm works behind a better result and which things are necessary to learn beside having coding knowledge.

The technical session of IEEE ULAB Student Branch has built a positive impact among participants and has been appreciated by other professionals for providing necessary information in writing their code effectively.
