ULAB IEEE Tech Fest’16
IEEE ULAB Student Branch arranged a Tech Fest in 2016. This fest was three days long and started on 28 November, 2016 and ended on 30 November 2016. On the first day the fest started at 10:30 AM and ended at 5 PM, one the second day it started at 10 AM and ended at 5 PM and on the last day it started at 10;30 AM and ended at 4;30 PM. This event was held in ULAB premises. It was supported by the CSE, ETE and EEE departments. The hashtag for the event was #This_event_is_open_for_all_students. There were
many participants from different departments. There were different sessions in this event including Poster & Project Showcase, Programming Session, and Various Logic Sessions and many more. The chief guest of the session was Mustafa Jabbar. Mustafa Jabbar is a Bangladeshi businessman and technology entrepreneur who serves as the country’s Minister of Post and Telecommunication. He was also the president of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services for a while (BASIS). He is primarily known for developing the Bijoy Bengali keyboard in 1988, which was the most extensively used Bengali input method until the Unicode-based Avro Keyboard was released. He was the president of Bangladesh Computer Samity, the country’s national ICT body, for four years in a
row. He is a supporter of the Bangla Bhasha Procholon Ain, 1987 (Bengali Language Implementation Act, 1987), and has been recognized for using digital media to promote Bengali. The event was one the flagship events of IEEE ULAB Student Branch. The participation and immense feedback and enthusiasm from the participants made the event as successful as it can get
